5 Ways to Update Your Bathroom for Guests

Update Mirrors

This is a little bit of a labor intensive update, but removing builder grade mirrors for a framed mirror really transforms a bathroom! There are so many beautiful finishes, shapes, and styles available at homedepot.com/décor but here are a few favorites that I chose for my space.

Brass arched detail mirror. This mirror is the definition of modern transitional, which was the style I was going for. The arches create interest, and the beaded detail is simply stunning. The quality of this mirror for under $100 makes this space feel like a palace on a budget! It’s currently on MAJOR SALE and just as stunning in real life as it is in pictures.

If arches aren’t your thing, this rectangle shape is also stunning! This mirror has the same brass detail, but without the beaded detail and it is a steal of a deal! Just a little over $100 for this StyleWell Mirror.

Fresh Linens

The simple thoughtful update of fresh linens will make any guest feel instantly welcome! These soft and cozy Tommy Bahama towels come in a 6 piece and in 4 different colors, (yes, from the Home Depot). I loved the texture of the waffle grid while still remaining very neutral. Be sure to grab a set!

Runners aren’t just for Hallways

Have you ever thought to put a runner in your bathroom? I’ve searched and searched for bathroom rugs that were big enough to look good in our long and skinny bathrooms, but haven’t found one. This 2 1/2″ x 7″ runner is around $50 and fits the scale of the space perfectly! Homedepot.com/decor has dozens and dozens of rug options. I’m sure you’re bound to find one you love.

Update your vanity

If you are like me and don’t want to remove your whole vanity, paint is a great upgrade to make it look brand new! I opted to use the cabinet paint by Behr in satin. The color is Cracked Pepper which is a warm, muted black! Be sure to pick up some BIN Shellac Primer if your vanity has been previous stained. This primer will allow the paint to adhere and bond well to the wood, but also not allow any of the stain to penetrate through the paint color and alter it (which is especially important for light colors).

Small details make the biggest impact

Switching out cabinet hardware and updating hooks make the biggest impact for the lowest cost! I upgraded our modern pulls for something more feminine, and switched out our towel hooks for these beautiful Liberty Beveled Champagne Hooks. Adding these marble bathroom accessories, updating these Kohler faucets really just pulled the entire room together. Thoughtful pieces like a sturdy wooden hamper for dirty towels, and a place for guests to put their toothbrush shows the thoughtfulness, and that goes a long way in making someone feel at home.
