There is nothing like a Spring Refresh–big or small so that’s why I partnered with Walmart to bring the life back to my friend Jess’s Dining Room. We browsed through the vast selection of dining tables and dining chairs, then got to work preparing the space for a beautiful make over.
First, we started by selecting a rug. While there were so many options at Walmart, we ended up ordering three different rugs to see how they looked in the space. It wasn’t an easy choice because all three worked well in the space, but we ultimately decided on rug #3
- Rug 1: Nourison Positano Indoor/Outdoor Charcoal Area Rug. This one was fun because of the large pattern. Plus, the fact that it was an indoor/outdoor area rug, made it easy to clean off in the case of any spills (and with it being a dining room, you KNOW there will be spills)
- Rug 2: Luxe Weavers Modern Geometric Dots Anthracite Area Rug, Non-Fade Carpet. This was another beautiful, unique pattern.
- Rug 3: Better Homes & Gardens Geo Medallion Washable Non-Skid Area Rug. This was the rug we ended up going with. The pattern was beautiful and very timeless. It complimented the space so well–felt like a no brainer.

After that: Table & Chairs
The table was actually the easiest part. The one Jess ended up choosing was not only beautiful, but also very functional for a family. The Better Homes & Gardens Lillian Fluted Round Expandable Dining Table, with a Natural Pine Finish was even more beautiful in person. The fluted accent around the base really elevated what could be a simple looking table. The best part of this option was that it has a removable leaf. This takes a round table and gives the option for an oval table to fit more people. Such a great find for under $300!

Lastly, Dining Chairs:
This is where things began to get difficult. The options for dining chairs were ENDLESS. We spent so long just trying to narrow down our selections, and ended up with 5 contenders.
- Option 1: Better Homes and Gardens Springwood Dining Chair, Light Honey Finish. This chair was difficult to turn down. The material seemed very durable and high quality, but we ended up deciding against it because it would require more elbow grease when it came to cleaning it.
- Option 2: Better Homes & Gardens Boucle Dining Chairs, Olive, 2 Pack. This 2 Pack of chairs comes out to under $70/piece. Just like the other options, the quality was also impressive. The color was a deep green that really would compliment any space.
- Option 3: Updated Version IGO Dining Chairs Set of 2, Wood Dining Room Chairs Slat Back Kitchen Room Chair Windsor Chairs, Black. These were the winning chairs for Jess’s space. They were sturdy, and were an easily cleanable option, which is great when you have small kids.
- Option 4: Better Homes & Gardens Springwood Wishbone Chair 2 Pack, Metal Base with Black Finish for Indoor. These chairs are another great 2 pack option. The seat seemed to be well made, and really made a statement. I loved the contrast of the natural wood.
- Option 5: Better Homes & Gardens Springwood Caning Captains Dining Chair 2 Pack, Charcoal Finish. One word: wow. The contrast just really pops with these chairs. The rattan back, the cream seat and the dark wood features all complement each other so well. If you’re looking for dining chairs with arms, definitely give this one a shot!
